HAPPY CHRISTMAS - Greetings to you all ...

Its that time of year again - fast approaching Christmas! I want to wish all my clients past, current and future a very Merry Christmas and Good Luck for 2013. Home Admin isnt such an easy task to do alone ....

Home admin is one of those jobs that's needs to be done, but it isn't an easy job to be done by ourselves (except me with mine ... well I cant advise people on what to do if I do not practise this myself!)
Its one of those jobs that needs a good workout and then, as needs be, a return by the helper perhaps once a month for a few hours to keep on top of things.
"Admin" can be anything from those boxes that haven't been opened in years to a stack of paper, perhaps that unopened cupboard or those piles of photographs and programmes that really need to be kept "but where?" - even down to sorting out home paperwork (i.e. guarantees and receipts). Its all part of the work that I could carry out for you. Go on get in touch and share that horrible household admin with someone who loves doing it ... and I have experience!

How to avoid stressing about the loss of an hour ...

So the clocks go back one hour this weekend at 2am on Sunday morning BUT DON'T PANIC!
Dont sit there fretting about having to change all your clocks and being places too early for a few weeks!
Why not use that extra hour to help reduce the “Dont panic” time and think about how to use your time better in the future ...
- Think about how not to get into a panic about running out of time...
- Think about getting the help you need with your paperwork...
- Think about using that spare room as a spare room and not a junk room ...
But most of all DONT PANIC and DO GET IN TOUCH I really am the person you need for all of the above.

Diarists & Archivists need time (& sometimes help) too ...

Soon I will be buying my day to a page diary for 2013 and like everyone else who buys this type of diary I am looking forward to filling in as many pages as I can with my “memoirs”!
This isn’t always possible as in life the best made plans don’t always work, but if you are the type of person who likes to store memories and memorabilia then get in touch as this is an issue I have addressed myself. I have kept a diary since the early 1980s and had in the past just put all the papers I wanted to keep into piles and then huge boxes, but now I have each year in a separate box with the diary for that year and have now made a living archive of my life that I can look at whenever I want and can now bequeath to someone rather than it littering the floor in later life and just being thrown out with the rubbish! They are saying that the Summer is over - well I suppose the school holidays are nearly at an end. But more I would say that people's minds are thinking its "back to work" time.

Time for a holiday??

At this time of year thoughts turn to summer holidays - and why not! Everyone should be able to take a break.

The words "holiday" and "break" should not make you shake with fear. If you are suffering with your workload call in some help. Make sure that you don't take your work with you and make plans to enable you to think of holidays in the future without coming out in a cold sweat (although in the predicted heat this weekend that might not be a bad thing!). Yes its that time of year again – time for me to celebrate another year in my life and I can honestly save life is good! I have made sure all my client work is done and my clients are happy for me to leave them for a day or two.

EXCUSES! EXCUSES! EXCUSES!

We are all guilty of putting off until tomorrow what could be done today!  But sometimes its not as simple as that - we really do not have the time to do the work! That is why there are people like me ... a Secretary who will come into your office/home and sort out all that horrible paperwork and whatever else you need sorting:
  • The filing cabinet that is more like a storage unit for unwanted papers ...
  • The drawer unit with drawers that cannot be opened because of the fear of what is inside ...
  • The cupboard upstairs where the door will not close because of all the stuff inside ...
  • The "spare room" that is not spare because of all the "stuff" inside it ...
  • The carrier bags full of receipts crying out to be sorted

Today is Secretaries Day - a day to recognise the work of secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and other administrative support professionals ... in other words ME!

DRAGONS & LEEKS!!!

Today is St David’s Day a day for Welsh people to celebrate St David, but also a day to think about dragons too! But it’s not only dragons associated with Wales – how about their other national symbol ... the leek!
"Dragon" can be another word for the horrendous piles of uncleared paperwork around you, but "Leek" (spelt another way "leak") could refer to the money that you lose as a result! Don't get burnt on Burns Night

Tonight sees people celebrating Burns Night, but make sure you don't get burnt by the Taxman by completing your on-line tax self assessment by Midnight on Tuesday 31 January! Do you have a paperless desk ...

... if so how does the floor look?

Do you shudder at the prospect of a paperless desk?
Did you know the definition of a “paperless office” is a work environment in which the use of paper is eliminated or greatly reduced. This is not always possible since paper files are required to be kept for certain periods or types of documentation.

This does however mean that some people choose to see the floor area as a solution to their problem – the desk is clear however the floor area is now not!

Twelfth Night - Goodbye Santa and Hello Tax Man

Its Twelfth Night when all the Christmas decorations should be taken down and put away ... and its now to turn thoughts to the year ahead and the coming of the Tax Man! Your self assessment papers need to be with the tax office by the latest 31 January 2012, but how happy and relaxed would you be if you were able to present them earlier than this? My own tax paperwork will be ready to give to my accountant on Monday since all my paperwork is neatly filed and easily accessed. My accountant was delighted with how my tax papers were presented last year and wished his other clients gave their paperwork in the same condition. This is a service I offer to whoever wants it and this will not only make accountants happier people, but make everyone’s life happier!

HAPPY NEW YEAR with your New Year Resolutions?
